Requirements For This Post
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience is a prerequisite for this role. The ideal candidate should possess over four years of hands-on experience in deploying metrics and dashboards within a production environment, showcasing expertise in data analytics or reporting spanning six years.
- Proficiency in writing and understanding SQL (including Hive, Teradata, etc.) is a must, and the ability to utilize SQL to bring insights to life through key Business Intelligence tools is essential.
- It is advantageous for the candidate to be familiar with analytics tools such as SAS, R Python, or others. Their experience should encompass working with large datasets, interpreting simulations, and deriving recommendations through analytics.
- An intermediate to advanced understanding of analytical and statistical techniques, including model building and experimental design, is a key requirement.
- Exceptional communication skills are paramount for effectively articulating ideas to both business and technical teams.
- Comfort with ambiguity and problem-solving in open-ended scenarios is a valued trait.
- The candidate’s proven track record should demonstrate the ability to establish robust business partnerships, bridging the gap between business inquiries and the technical skills necessary for resolution.

Join Target’s Last Mile and Operations Design team, where your objective is to drive omni-channel experimentation, fostering a culture of continuous innovation at Target. As a Lead Data Analyst within Last Mile and Operations Design, you have the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping and advancing our in-house capabilities to derive maximum value from Target’s scale and data assets, with a focus on enhancing the guest and carrier/courier experience. We view data not merely as a product but also as an opportunity to experiment and refine our approach to create new and improved guest experiences. Collaboratively, we contribute to changes in various initiatives, processes, and interdependencies, necessitating outstanding data collection, measurement, and timely, industry-leading analysis. This role involves close collaboration with teams in product development, research, data science, finance, and operations to plan and measure performance. As a Lead Data Analyst you will:
- Serve as an advocate of our data-driven culture across Product, Research, Data Science, and Business Operations, to help them utilize insights that’ll direct their efforts towards initiatives with highest impacts
- You have solid foundational knowledge of supply chain optimization including the impact of inventory placement on, transportation, sourcing, distribution, fulfillment, and planning and how this impacts final mile optimization
- A keen understanding of first, middle, and last mile routing as it relates to planning, execution, and recovery
- Formulate precise problem statements, synthesize analysis and results in compelling storylines and communicate to key stakeholders. You should have the ability to tell a story around the problem, the solution and the impact and value of implementing a solution
- Analyze and explore data in our ecosystem, work across teams to design experiments, analyze the results, and provide strategic recommendations.
- Define data to be collected for measuring the success of new product features or business strategies, define KPIs, and work across functional teams on tracking and instrumentation of data
- Design and build self-service dashboards using a mixture of analytical and visualization techniques to derive actionable insight from data to guide and grade business decisions.

Declaration
This role offers flexibility in work arrangements, with options for Remote or Hybrid (referred to internally as “Flex for Your Day”) setups, dependent on Target’s operational needs. A Remote arrangement allows team members to work full-time from home or an alternative location outside of Target, without a dedicated desk at a Target location, and with the possibility of up to four visits to HQ annually. On the other hand, a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day arrangement enables team members to perform their core role either remotely or on-site at a Target location, based on the specific requirements of their role, team, and tasks for that day. It’s important to note that work duties must be carried out within the country of the primary work location unless Target prescribes otherwise.
