Position Overview
We’re excited to offer this opportunity for remote work, but please note it’s open exclusively to individuals residing in California.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for handling a range of accounting tasks that are moderately complex. You’ll be focusing on a specific line of business, program, or set of accounts. Your day-to-day will involve keeping track of and reconciling assigned general ledger and accounts, preparing journal entries and financial statements, and carefully analyzing any discrepancies, transactions, or records that come your way. Additionally, you’ll play a key role in providing information to both internal and external auditors, ensuring transparency and clarity in our financial records.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- We’re looking for someone who has a good grasp of basic accounting principles and methods, including GAAP, as well as a familiarity with auditing standards.
- You should also have a solid understanding of accounting and financial operations, along with experience using computerized systems for managing financial data.
- In this role, you’ll need to be comfortable maintaining and balancing various financial records and accounts. Strong math skills are essential, as you’ll be handling calculations and computations regularly.
- Additionally, you’ll be responsible for translating financial information into clear reports and presentations for different audiences.
- Critical thinking skills will come in handy as you analyze data and resolve any discrepancies that may arise. Attention to detail and organizational skills are also crucial traits we’re looking for. Above all, we value a customer service-oriented approach and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED
We’re seeking someone with at least two years of hands-on experience in general accounting, which includes managing various aspects like payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, or purchasing within a general ledger sub-system.
Additionally, we’re looking for a candidate who has spent at least two years analyzing and reconciling accounting records, as well as preparing financial statements. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
Proficiency with computerized accounting and financial systems is a must, with a minimum of two years of experience working with such systems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable navigating and utilizing these systems to streamline accounting processes and maintain accurate financial records.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
