About the team
Within the API services group, we are devoted to constructing the systems that power each Stripe’s inner operations and public APIs. We’re in search of those who are captivated by simplifying intricate challenges and thrive in dynamic, high-effect settings. We intend to develop modern gear and user reports able to address complex problems for a diverse consumer base, which includes each internal team and outside builders. Responsibilities
- Craft the foundation and tools for Stripe’s public API, ensuring a robust infrastructure.
– Prioritize the security, reliability, and performance of our APIs to deliver a trustworthy user experience. - Tackle product challenges with a focus on creating enjoyable API and developer experiences.
- Dive into diverse products, tech stacks, and programming languages to enrich your problem-solving skills.
- Transform vague issues faced by our developer users into tangible products, guiding them through the entire process from proposal to launch.
- Navigate through short and long-term roadmaps, making thoughtful tradeoffs that balance business priorities, user satisfaction, and sustainable technical foundations.
- Foster collaboration within the team, offering mentorship and support to fellow members as we collectively work towards our goals.
Requirements
- Accumulated over 5 years of diverse engineering experience across a spectrum of products.
- Showcased leadership skills by spearheading initiatives within expansive engineering organizations, overseeing multiple teams, and utilizing profound domain expertise to shape the technology roadmap effectively.
- Possess a deep-seated passion for crafting exceptional API designs and ensuring outstanding developer experiences.
- Flourishes in collaborative environments, seamlessly interacting with various functions, stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
- Demonstrates autonomy in problem-solving, with the ability to delve into technical or product domains, applying acquired knowledge to design and scope projects effectively.
- Exhibits meticulous attention to detail, particularly in areas of performance, accessibility, reliability, and security.
Preferred qualifications
- Fluent in multiple languages, including Ruby, Go, and Java, showcasing a versatile skill set.
- Demonstrate strong writing abilities, adept at creating user-friendly documentation as well as executive and strategic communications that guide the team’s direction.

Pay and benefits
The annual base salary for this role in the US falls within the range of $163,100 to $244,700. For sales positions, this range represents the On Target Earnings (“OTE”), encompassing both the sales commissions/bonuses target and the annual base salary for the role. The salary range is inclusive of various career levels at Stripe, and it will be further refined during the interview process. This refinement takes into account factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. For applicants outside the US, the annual salary range specific to their location can be requested during the interview process.
In addition to the base salary, this role may offer additional benefits, including equity, company bonuses, or sales commissions/bonuses, a 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision benefits, as well as wellness stipends.
